Recently, the ATM-900L cutting slot raise boring machine manufactured by Maitong Intelligent has finished construction work for the underground project of Hebei Tianxing Mining. Adopting downward pilot hole drilling technology, the equipment successfully constructed a large underground ventilation raise with a depth of 216 meters and a diameter of 1500 mm. Few domestic projects have completed ventilation shafts deeper than 200 meters with cutting slot raise boring machines.

The construction of deep ventilation shafts imposes stringent requirements on overall equipment performance, including unit operation stability, high-power hydraulic system, vertical drilling precision and adaptability to complex rock strata. Featuring a mature full-range multi-functional structural design, the composite ATM-900L raise boring machine by Maitong Intelligent successfully solved the technical challenges of this ultra-deep raise project. The drilling process ran smoothly with stable performance and good adaptability to variable underground rock formations. The finished borehole features neat, round shape and smooth shaft wall, with all construction indicators meeting mine safe mining standards.

Compared with conventional cutting slot raise boring machines, Maitong ATM-900L boasts powerful integrated functions, supporting all mainstream raise operations such as upward/downward pilot hole drilling, inclined reaming and back reaming. Its maximum diameter for upward pilot drilling reaches 920 mm, while the maximum downward reaming diameter hits 2 meters, realizing true multi-purpose operation of one machine. The unit is fully applicable to various underground roadway projects including cutting slot excavation, ventilation shafts, drainage shafts, filling shafts and pedestrian raises. With flexible body design and convenient underground relocation, it greatly improves mine construction efficiency.

For a long time, restricted by structural limitations, domestic cutting slot raise boring machines are mostly used for medium and shallow raises. No precedent exists for completing a 216-meter ultra-deep ventilation shaft in one single pass with such equipment. The successful delivery of the Hebei Tianxing Mining project fully verifies the powerful drilling performance and durable reliable quality of Maitong Intelligent’s raise boring machines, marking a key milestone in the technological upgrading of domestic intelligent mining excavation equipment.
